b.mckenzie

who i am.

i am timber, pure timber,
of varying thickness and ply.
i am the wild incumbent.
i’m a laser-cannon adhered
to a mountain side.
i am an avalanche caused
by the sound of beating hearts.
i am the herald of the new age
and the bridge to the old.
i’m a night-time streetlamp
forgetting i’m burning
during the day.
i am furtive and ashamed.
i’m the dog at the table-side
begging for scrap
and receiving greatness.
i’m a tie knotted
in four different ways.
i’m a half-windsor,
i’m half-alive,
and i’m sure of nothing.
